The principal coursing event in England,
known as the `courser's Derby'. Staged at
Altcar, near Formby, Merseyside, each year,
it is named after the nearby Waterloo Hotel
whose proprietor originated the race in 1936.
It is also the name of the trophy given to
the winner of the Waterloo Handicap, a Crown
Green bowls competition held at the Waterloo
Hotel, Blackpool, every year.
